We are proud because EMU reappeared in Times Higher Education (THE) list.

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) continues its rapid rise in the world university rankings with another achievement. On Wednesday, 27 April 2022 the UK-based Times Higher Education (THE), the publisher of the world's most widely-referenced university rankings, announced the impact rankings of universities according to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. According to the said rankings, EMU raised its last year’s score of 69,4 to 79,5, moving from 301-400 band to 201-300 band this year.

First across the island, Second in Turkey

Western Sydney University from Australia was ranked the first university in the world amongst the 1,406 universities all around the world. Appearing in the highest band amongst the other 3 universities from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), EMU became the first from TRNC. On the other hand, in the list that includes 7 universities across the island of Cyprus, EMU was again in the top band and succeeded in being the best university across the island.
According to the rankings, ITU and METU appeared in the 101-200 band being listed as the first among the universities in Turkey. Continuing its rise among the Turkish universities, EMU has made it to the 201-300 along with Abdullah Gül University, Boğaziçi University, Hacettepe University, Sakarya University and Yıldız Technical University. Total of 61 universities from Turkey appeared on the list.

Continuation of providing quality education and development are therefore inevitable for EMU with many international accreditations, recognitions, rankings, memberships, and partnerships (https://www.emu.edu.tr/en/about-emu/accreditations-recognitions-rankings-memberships/597). We would like to see you as well as part of our success.

EMU welcomes the submission of applications from transfer students. Applications to graduate programs should be submitted online via Online Application System. There is no application fee. For the offered graduate programs please click. Students can apply to three programs in one application.

Students who were given admission to University and registered may submit their course exemption request to Academic Department Chair's office together with official transcript, course descriptions and termination letter. Course exemption application must be done until the end of the semester in which the student initially registered for a program course.

Graduate Programs course exemption evaluation is done according to the following criteria:

  1. Courses should not be assessed towards a diploma and that their equivalences can be proven.
  2. Previously taken courses that are exempted by the registered program should have “B" as the minimum grade and should be taken within five academic years preceding the semester of the graduate program registration in EMU.
  3. Total credits of exempted courses transferred to the registered program can only be equivalent to half of the credits necessary to complete the program (For example, if the program consists 7 courses, exemption can be given to at most 3 courses).

Out of the previously taken credit courses that are transferred to the new program, a semester is deducted from the student's total study period for every three exempted credit courses, on the condition that the total period of study is not less than the minimum study period specified in Regulations for Graduate Studies and Examinations.

We would like to see you at Eastern Mediterranean University in the near future.

Kind Regards,

Institute of Graduate Studies and Research
